What is typesetting?
Typesetting (also known as DeskTop Publishing, DTP in short) is the process of correctly arranging text within a layout that can then be published in a digital or print form. Professional foreign-language typesetting becomes extremely important during a multilingual production, as the volume of text can expand or shrink considerably during the translation process from one language to another.
At Planet Languages, we employ language-specialist typesetters in over 80 languages to ensure that your translated content displays correctly in the target language and looks as good in the translated layout as in your carefully crafted master version.

Getting the translation right is only the first step
Our foreign-language typesetting specialists ensure that your print and digital publications are just as visually appealing as your original design layout – while respecting your brand identity and the typographic conventions of your target market.
Every language has its own specific rules when it comes to punctuation, hyphenation, spacing, font usage, etc. There is no standard way to set out every possible language – you have to know the rules for each one.
Planet Languages has been producing high-profile multilingual magazines and corporate documentation for over 20 years and every one of our project managers is DTP trained.

FAQs
If you would like to receive the translated content in the same format as the original PDF, we would need to receive the full InDesign or Illustrator package to organise the typesetting (DTP) of the content.
Bleed is the term used for the area of the paper that will be trimmed off after the document is printed. For example, when the artwork of a brochure extends all the way to the edge of the document, it will require bleeds. This ensures that after the document is trimmed the artwork goes to the very edge of the page. If the document does not include bleeds, there is a high possibility that the finished product will have a white strip on the edge.
When your content is being published online we recommend using a Web-Res PDF which is of a higher quality than the Low-Res one, but still easy enough for your readers to view or download.
If your content will be printed, we will provide you with a PDF of the highest possible resolution (Hi-Res/High-Res), ready for printing.
