What AI translation means for your team

Speed at scale

Faster turnaround without compromising standards, thanks to AI-generated translations and expert post-editing.

Lower cost per word

AI produces the draft, so the linguist’s time goes on review and refinement, not translating from scratch.

Human quality control

Every AI translation is reviewed by a highly qualified linguist before it reaches you.

The right engine for the job

We evaluate multiple AI translation engines and large language models to select the best fit for your content and language pairs.

Consistent terminology

Your glossaries and translation memories guide the process, keeping brand language accurate every time.

Is AI translation right for your content?

AI translation works best when speed, scale and consistency are the priority – provided the right level of human review is applied.

AI translation works well for:

Large volumes of internal or reference material where speed matters more than polish
Product listings, support documentation and knowledge bases that change frequently
Draft translations that will receive a full human editing pass

Treat as a draft stage for:

Marketing campaigns and brand-facing content
Legal contracts and regulated documentation
Anything published under your brand name – human review is essential

Not sure which applies to you? We’re happy to advise.

Why human review still matters

Machine translation quality has improved significantly, but it can still produce errors that are easy to overlook in fluent-sounding text.

Planet Languages is certified to ISO 18587, the international standard for post‑editing machine translation. Our qualified linguists review AI‑generated output and refine it, ensuring the final text is accurate, consistent and suitable for its intended purpose.

What our post-editors catch

MistranslationsContent that sounds natural but conveys the wrong meaning.
Inconsistent terminologyThe same term translated differently across one document.
Tone mismatchesTechnically correct language that doesn’t sound like your brand.

How our AI translation service works

Five steps, from brief to delivery.

1

We assess your content

Your project manager reviews your content and confirms whether AI translation is appropriate, and which level of human review it needs.

2

We select the right engine

We choose the machine translation engine or large language model best suited to your content and language pair – including your own custom-trained engine, if you have one.

3

AI produces the first draft

Our computer-assisted translation tools integrate with all the major machine translation systems, so you’re never limited to a single provider.

4

A linguist reviews and refines

A qualified post-editor reviews the AI output in line with ISO 18587, correcting errors and refining tone and terminology.

5

You receive a ready-to-use file

Your content is delivered in its original file format, ready to publish.

Light or full post-editing?

Not every project needs the same depth of review.

Light post-editing

Focused on accuracy

Ensures the meaning is correct and nothing important has been lost or distorted, without polishing every sentence for style.

For: internal content and material with a short shelf life

Full post-editing

Comparable with human translation

Corrects terminology, tone and fluency throughout to produce a smooth, natural result.

For: customer-facing content where quality matters

AI translation or human translation?

If your content carries significant brand, legal or customer-facing risk, a fully human translation process may be the better choice. Your project manager can advise which approach is right for each project – using AI translation where it adds value, and human translation when the stakes demand it.

Frequently asked questions

Post-editing is the process of a qualified linguist reviewing and correcting AI-generated translation output. We recommend post-editing as a way to manage accuracy, terminology and tone before publication.

Yes. If you already have a machine translation or AI model trained on your content and terminology, our post-editors can work directly with its output to bring it up to the standard you need.

AI translation can produce a first draft of thousands of words in minutes, compared with roughly 1,500 words a day for a human translator working from scratch. Post-editing adds time depending on the level of review required, but the overall process is still typically faster than a fully human translation.

Generally, yes, particularly for high-volume content, since AI produces the first draft and a linguist’s time is spent reviewing rather than translating from scratch. We will always provide a quote before work takes place. We can also give you a direct cost comparison for your specific content.
